In November, 2009, a group of Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and Evangelical Christian leaders released the Manhattan Declaration, a document reaffirming and promising to defend fundamental truths in three areas:
It is clear that these basic truths are being threatened today on all sides. It is clear that these basic truths are being threatened today on all sides. Millions of innocent children are being killed by abortion; several states have redefined marriage to include same-sex unions; and there are very real threats to our ability to freely practice religion and follow our consciences.
"Inasmuch as these truths are foundational to human dignity and the well-being of society, they are inviolable and non-negotiable."
